Back from Singapore after another great @Prestel_Partner conference.
This time, I focused not on the rising gen—but the incumbent gen.
Their challenge?
Fear of the unknown—not what the business looks like after transition, but what life looks like for them.

Intergenerational wealth transition has changed (forever).

It used to be about two generations.

With increased life expectancy, now three gens are in play.

Are you the "sandwich generation"?

What makes a family? Shared genetic material? Shared assets?

A family is much more, and it's even more if family members *choose* to stay together.

Simply having the option to separate means they are together because they want to be, not because they have to be.

What does “I want to retire, but …” mean?

Simple: anything before “but” is bullshit.

You may not actually want to retire at all.

What do you do instead?

Make excuses.

The pattern works something like this:

“I want to retire” (you have to start saying this)
